The Food (Part One Billion and Seven)

Tanner sent Matt a text today of a drink dispenser that he saw at Sam's Club. I figured I would do a bit of research and found the exact dispenser that Tanner saw. I think this may actually work.

Here is my math...

1 person drinks 16 oz

160 people drink 2,560 oz

1 gallon is 128 oz

160 people drink 20 gallons

1 dispenser is 3 gallons

Number of dispensers needed 7

So...technically we could get four of them and have someone refill or we could get six of them and hope that people drink more from the cash bar than from the dispensers. :) Either way, I think we are well on our way to this actually working! Here is a picture....

There is a place for ice in the bottom to keep it cool. It looks pretty simple to refill so four just might do the trick! YEA! (Thanks Tanner!)

...of course...if we do buy them, we will need to have numerous parties at the house to get good use out of them!

The Honeymoon!!

Matt and I orignally thought a cruise would be a perfect honeymoon. We were searching for a vacation where we could relax with no worries. We searched all around for various, all inclusive packages and settled on a cruise. Unfortunately...or maybe fortunately, I am marrying someone who hates to spend money. Matt found out that if we were to leave a few weeks later we would save hundreds of dollars. He just couldn't justify spending that much money when we could save so much weeks later. Plus, the add-ons kept piling up until the cruise was no longer the best deal so we went back to square one.
Kimberly put us in touch with her travel agent and Matt started brainstorming with him. It wasn't long before Matt had Vegas stuck in his mind. Neither of us have been to Vegas before and we both think it will be super fun. My lovely finance started talking with the Waxahachie travel agent and started playing the two agents against each other. Now have a wonderful honeymoon...for a VERY low price (half of the price of a cruise)! (Good Job Matt!)
We will be leaving the morning of Monday, August 3rd and we will be spending four nights at the Flamingo on the strip and coming back in the evening of Friday, August 7th! Matt has already been busy looking up shows to see and places to go! I, personally, am okay with sitting by the pool with my new hubby!...plus it is free. :)
Only four months to go!

The Food (Part One Billion and Six)

It seems like the food conversation for the reception is never ending! I believe we have decided to go the bbq route. We originally started thinking that someone would have man the table in order to make sure that all of the food was well stocked and warm. However, over spring break, my Mom, Dad, Matt and I went to Sam's Club. We were looking at those big aluminum pans to serve food in and realized it would be just as much money to have three/four serving pans for each table. Therefore, instead of having someone man the buffet table, we would just need a couple of people to bring out the food to be served family style. We are thinking of having brisket, potato salad, baked beans and rolls. Do y'all have an opinion?
As for the drinks, we figured we would have a self serve area for iced tea and water in at least two of the four corners of the room. I'm not sure how to serve the tea and water. They may just have to be in pitchers unless I can find some handy-dandy containers like what restaurants use to serve tea. Then of course the bar which will have cokes (soda pops for those of you up north) and adult beverages. Again, do y'all have an opinion?

The Bridal Party (Part Two)

Matt and I went to look at tuxes last weekend at Men's Wearhouse. Since then Matt has found a cheaper place but we are still on the hunt for something that is possibly more inexpensive. However, we have decided that Matt will wear a white vest with a purple tie. The groomsmen will be wearing an orange tie with an orange vest. (It looks nicer than it sounds) The fathers will be wearing a black vest with a black tie. The ring bearers (Isaiah and Chase) will be wearing...well...we don't know yet. Possibly a dark suit with orange ties. We shall see. :)
Kimmie and I went to look at dresses last week and I have narrowed it down to a few styles. I still don't really care what the bridesmaids wear but there are a few that I really like. These are all very light fabrics and dresses that could be worn for any reason during the summer. I think we (the girls and I) have decided that wearing some sort of silver sandal will go very well with the purple dresses. :)

My favorite!

The Food (Part 5)

Matt and I have gone back and forth between chinese food and bbq. Although we were both set on having chinese, I think the bbq is going to be much cheaper. We are a little sad, but I think bbq will be just as yummy! We will most likely have brisket, some sort of bean product, maybe potato salad and then various types of bread. I think we will have ice water and then anything else can be purchased. If you have any other ideas, please feel free to share!
Since we are not having the food catered, we will be on the lookout for someone (probably two people) to stand behind the food and make sure everything stays stocked. They will need to go back and forth from the reception to the kitchen (down the hall) to retrieve the food from the warming ovens. They will also need to make sure that the ice water is full for our guests. If you are interested in being this person or have any ideas of who may be interested, please let me know!
